Caterham will have a greatly increased presence at January’s AutoSport International Show (ASI), including everything from live action experiences to the latest technology being developed by the new Caterham Group of companies.
The iconic marque’s stand (2520), situated right next door to the main Autosport stage, will be bigger and better than ever, featuring road cars, racing Sevens, a Caterham F1 car as well as the brand new Caterham Kart.
Meanwhile, the Caterham Experience will again be run in Hall 4 where, for £10, visitors will be able to sit alongside one of the firm’s instructors for an adrenalin-pumping, tyre-smoking passenger ride around a specially-constructed indoor course.
There will also be the chance to get behind the wheel yourself to learn the art of doing ‘donuts’ in the legendary Seven sportscar and videos of your experience will be available to buy as a memento.
Caterham Cars’ CEO, Graham Macdonald, said: “Caterham Cars has never been the kind of brand to have the ‘cars on carpet’ approach at events like Autosport International. Caterham is about the experience of driving so we are delighted to once again be running the Caterham Experience.
“The last few months have been incredibly exciting for Caterham and have resulted in a massive expansion in activity. At ASI, we want to showcase everything that the Caterham brand now has to offer and to share our enthusiasm for the future with all our fans and supporters.”
Reflecting the expanded Caterham Group - which consists of Caterham Cars, Caterham Technology & Innovation (CTI), Caterham Composites and the Caterham F1 Team - the main stand will also showcase the specialist engineering services, expertise and facilities now on offer to other companies.
Several current CTI projects will be on display, including a high output naturally aspirated Euro V-compliant engine, and a performance downsizing concept. Alongside these, Caterham will showcase expertise in the areas of dynamic performance development, lightweight structures and the design, analysis and manufacture of composites.
The new Caterham Kart, which will form the basis of the new-for-2014 low-cost, high-value karting championship, will be on display for the first time, while Caterham Motorsport will be announcing a raft of details about the package available to prospective new competitors.
Elsewhere, a place in Caterham’s acclaimed entry-level Academy series will be up for grabs in a competition run in conjunction with Pistonheads.com and its Performance Car Show element of ASI. The prize car will be on display at the show.
